Officers responded to an assault call before 2:30 a.m. Elia S. Laeli allegedly severed another man's pinky finger with a machete. When officers arrived, they were confronted by Laeli who was armed with a machete. Officers ordered him to drop the machete, but he ignored their commands, and reportedly rushed toward one officer.
